Google today officially announced the Pixel 11 series. The base Pixel 11 model brings a powerful mix of hardware upgrades and AI-driven photography tools. The baseline Google Pixel 11 packs an improved array of intelligent camera capabilities built on top of its upgraded main sensor and the new Tensor G6 processor.

Here’s a complete breakdown of the rear camera setup and all the major software features available on the standard Pixel 11.

Camera hardware and Super Zoom tech

The Google Pixel 11 comes with a versatile triple rear camera setup. The star is a 48-megapixel main camera sensor with an f/1.7 aperture, Quad PD, OIS and a bigger 1/1.56-inch sensor size. Then we have a 13-megapixel ultrawide camera with an f/2.2 aperture and a 120-degree field of view. Plus, a third 10.8-megapixel telephoto lens offers 5x optical zoom with Dual PD and OIS. While the ultrawide and telephoto sensors share hardware specs with last year’s model, computational photography upgrades deliver noticeable quality improvements.

The Pixel 11 offers Super Zoom technology that reaches up to 30x digital zoom. It does so by combining the optical reach of the telephoto lens with Google’s advanced image processing algorithms. The main camera sensor also delivers Macro Focus capabilities without requiring a dedicated macro lens.

Intelligent AI shooting modes and real-time guidance

The Pixel 11 introduces several new software-driven camera modes powered by Gemini AI models. Among these is Magic Capture, a new shooting mode that records video while Gemini AI automatically extracts the best unblurred 12MP HDR+ still photos in the background. This allows you to remain fully present during fast-moving events like sports or birthday parties without choosing between recording video or taking photos.

Another major addition is Camera Looks. This sensor-level computational feature lets you apply and customize film-inspired aesthetics—such as Classic, Black Tie, and Digi—directly during capture rather than applying post-process filters. For photographers looking to improve their composition, Camera Coach acts as an AI-powered assistant using Gemini models to provide real-time guidance on framing, lighting, and layout as you shoot.

To simplify group shots, the Pixel 11 includes Add Me. This is Google’s signature group photo tool that merges two separate shots using AI and augmented reality so the photographer is included in the final image. Additionally, Auto Best Take captures a rapid burst of HDR+ frames and automatically merges everyone’s best facial expressions into a single flawless shot.

Skin tone accuracy, recognition, and fast frame selection

Google continues to refine facial processing and photo personalization through specialized system tools. Real Tone stands out as a specialized software suite designed to authentically and accurately represent a diverse spectrum of human skin complexions. The system intelligently adjusts auto-white balance, face detection, and natural exposure algorithms.

Complementing this is Frequent Faces. The feature recognizes the people you photograph most often to recommend better shots and optimize skin tones using Real Tone processing. Google claims all face data is processed and stored strictly on-device for privacy.

For split-second moments, Top Shot automatically captures a burst of frames before and after pressing the shutter button. Then, it uses smart AI to recommend the best alternative frame where subjects are smiling and not blinking.

Video capabilities and audio enhancements

For video recording, the Pixel 11 supports 4K recording at 24, 30, and 60 FPS, as well as 1080p recording at 24, 30, and 60 FPS. Plus, digital video zoom support is up to 20x. The front-facing camera also supports crisp 4K video recording at 30 and 60 FPS.

The camera system includes dual exposure support on the main sensor, Macro Focus Video, and 10-bit HDR video recording. To complement the video quality, Google included a full suite of intelligent audio tools, such as Audio Magic Eraser, Audio Zoom, Stereo recording, Speech Enhancement, and Wind Noise Reduction.
