Google Photos, in recent times, has received quite a few updates, bringing some long-awaited features and some that only improve the experience. It looks like the company isn’t done with the Google Photos app yet, as it’s now rolling out yet another update, which brings new touch-up tools to the image editor. Google is selling this feature with the tag line “Your photos should capture how you feel in the moment.”
Google Photos’ update brings new touch-up tools to the image editor
The new touch-up tools in Google Photos’ image editor will help you apply subtle enhancements. These will help you refine “skin texture, remove blemishes, brighten eyes, or whiten teeth in seconds.” Google says that it’s easy to use the feature. Just select a face in your photo and choose from options, like heal, smooth, under eyes, irises, teeth, eyebrows, or lips. You can then adjust the intensity of the chosen effects.
These apply in real time, so you can see the results and adjust accordingly. Once done, you can save the output. For what it’s worth, many photo-editing apps already offer these options, but Google Photos is getting them natively now.
Gradually rolling out to Android devices with at least 4GB of RAM
The feature has been a long time coming. It was originally spotted through code strings in Google Photos in October last year. Months later, Google is now finally ready. It’s definitely a handy feature for those who want to enhance their images to make them perfect. But for those who want their photos to reflect reality, they can choose to leave them as is.
Google says that the new touch-up tools are gradually rolling out globally in the Photos app for Android devices with at least 4GB of RAM and running Android 9.0 and up. Since the rollout has just begun, it might take a couple of days to hit every device.
