Google is preparing a new safety update for its messaging platform. According to findings by Android Authority, the search titan will soon enable a new Enhanced Protection feature inside Google Messages. This upcoming functionality will bring major user interface changes to the existing safety menu inside the texting app. Thanks to a latest leak, we now have an idea of what the revised settings interface will look like.
The app will bring new menu layouts for new security features
The folks over the tech publication managed to enable the upcoming settings menu for Google Messages that will enable the Enhanced Protection feature. Currently, the app’s basic toggle allows users to switch on standard spam prevention features on or off. However, the company will drop the basic switch entirely with the upcoming update.
The new interface will control users. In the new UI, users will see three different safety features. This is Google’s extra approach to block malicious links on the mobile platform. The company recently also launched advanced AI scam defenses to block fake bank calls.
Users will have choices between regular protection or secure cloud analysis
The upcoming first option in the new interface will activate the secure cloud analysis mode. As per the source, this functionality scans incoming messages to flag suspicious links, much like how search tools do it. The second new option is the old basic protection option, which keeps regular filtering active.
There’s one third option, turning on will completely disable spam filters. Note that the screen will display a prompt warning users not to select this option. The company hopes this prompt will stop users from turning features on Google Messages.Â
For now, there’s no word when Google is planning to release this interface. We’ll keep an eye out for any new information and will keep you updated.
