Google I/O has kicked off and Google has officially announced Gemini 3.5, the company’s latest family of models with its most advanced features. Google says these new models “combine frontier intelligence with action.” As part of this new Gemini version, Google is introducing Gemini 3.5 Flash, and it’s working on Gemini 3.5 Pro which the company says will be coming later this year. That sounds a lot further away than it is, though. Google confirms that the Pro model is being used internally and it plans a rollout to the public in June.
Gemini 3.5 Flash, however, is available to the public starting today. Gemini users can access it from the Gemini app on their mobile device. This will immediately give you access to new advanced features, and everything can be utilized in Google Search via AI Mode as well.
Google has also announced Gemini Spark, a personal AI agent for Gemini 3.5 Flash
The big deal with Gemini 3.5 Flash, at least for the end users, is the new AI agent that Google is adding. It’s called Gemini Spark, and this is essentially the helpful agent that Google has been talking about since last year. Gemini Spark will take actions on your behalf, but Google also says it does this under your direction. So you as the user can control what it’s doing for you.
Gemini Spark uses Gemini 3.5 Flash, and Google says that it runs 24/7 so it’s always available to help you get things done. This will not be available for everyone right away. Initially, Google is only making it available to trusted testers today. Starting next week, it’ll be available for Google AI Ultra subscribers in the US in a beta form.
For developers, Google is making Gemini 3.5 Flash available today via Google Antigravity, the Gemini API in Google AI Studio and Android Studio, Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform, and Gemini Enterprise. Additionally, all users can check it out in the Gemini app and in Google Search AI mode from today.
