Alongside the Redmi Note 17 series, Xiaomi seems to be working on a relatively affordable alternative, the Redmi 17 5G for the global region. It’s worth noting that this doesn’t fall under the popular Note series and has a slightly cheaper price tag in comparison. That aside, a leak now sheds light on the global Redmi 17 5G design, specs, and also price. Here’s what’s been reported.
Global Redmi 17 5G specs and design details leak ahead of launch
91mobiles exclusively reports the Redmi 17 5G details in association with X tipster Sudhanshu. The renders shared by the outlet show the phone in at least three color options: there’s the usual black, a blue option, and an orange shade. The latter seems to feature a faux-leather finish of sorts. Design-wise, the phone uses a flat frame, with a familiar rectangular module on the back with circular camera cutouts.Â
The front is occupied by a center-positioned punch-hole cutout for the selfie shooter, but it has thick black bezels. The volume rocker and power button are housed on the right edge. The report notes the phone will measure 170.12 × 74.42 × 8.8 mm and weigh 235 grams. Besides the colorful options, the Redmi 17 5G design is just covering the basics here. That’s not a bad thing, though.
6.9-inch display, 7,500mAh battery, and a 50MP camera
Moving to the specs. The Redmi 17 5G will reportedly sport a 6.9-inch LCD display but with an HD+ resolution (1,600 X 720). Users will benefit from 60Hz, 90Hz, and 120Hz refresh rates and Corning Gorilla Glass 7i protection. The panel could support 675 nits typical and 825 nits HBM (high brightness mode). Powering the phone could be the Snapdragon 4 Gen 5, with at least 4GB RAM and a 128GB storage option. The handset is likely to boot HyperOS 3.0 based on Android 16.
In terms of photography, the Redmi 17 5G might feature a 50MP AI main rear camera assisted by a QVGA sensor with anti-flicker capabilities. It may house an 8MP front camera for selfies. The handset could sport a large 7,500mAh battery with 45W fast charging support. However, the report notes that the charger will not be included in the box. Well, we’ve seen brands cutting away chargers from flagships; things seem to be reaching budget/mid-range models as well now.
No charger in the box
For connectivity, the Redmi phone could get dual nano SIMs with 5G and 4G, Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.1, and NFC. It could also get a 3.5mm audio jack and a 300% volume boost. The device may get an IP64 rating for dust and light water resistance. For security, it’ll get a side-mounted fingerprint sensor and also face unlock. The report mentions a dynamic RGB LED, possibly for notifications and visual effects.
Lastly, as for the pricing, the Redmi 17’s 4GB + 128GB variant will reportedly cost €250. The company hasn’t shared the global launch date yet.
