The Mad Max Genesis Is Actually Real
When Genesis pulled the covers off the X Skorpio Concept earlier this year, we could have sworn it rolled straight out of a Mad Max fever dream. Exposed suspension, a tubular chassis, tires that look like they belong on a monster truck, and bodywork so aggressive it could scare small children – it seemed destined for car shows, not the open road.
Turns out – it actually drives. Genesis just unleashed the X Skorpio for a real shakedown and European debut at the 2026 Tutto Bene Hillclimb in northern Italy, sending it up the winding Strada Borromea instead of letting it gather dust under the spotlights.
And the Skorpio didn’t make the trip solo. Genesis also hauled out the Magma GT Concept – the wild mid-engine grand tourer that first broke cover at the 24 Hours of Le Mans – so both could stretch their legs on the same mountain pass.
A Hillclimb Built for Driving, Not Racing
Tutto Bene is a rolling celebration of all things automotive. The 5.6-mile Strada Borromea snakes above Lake Maggiore, and this year, about 85 rare and wild machines took over one of Italy’s most jaw-dropping mountain roads.
Genesis tossed the keys to André Lotterer, their Magma Racing ace who just bagged the team’s best FIA World Endurance Championship result of the season at Lone Star Le Mans.
The rearview footage shows the Skorpio muscling through hairpins, suspension flexing and those chunky tires clawing at the tarmac. For a machine that looks like it should be tearing up the Baja, it’s shockingly composed.
We couldn’t help but also appreciate the X Skorpio’s soundtrack. Genesis previously confirmed the concept packs a high-output twin-turbo V8, and the video is filled with deep V8 rumble, turbo whoosh, and crackles echoing through the forest.
The Magma GT Looks Ferociously Gorgeous
The Magma GT tackled the same climb, but brought a whole different vibe. While the Skorpio looks like it’s itching for a mud bath, the Magma GT hugs the tarmac, slicing up the mountain like it was born for it. That wide stance and beautiful bodywork all click into place once it’s in motion.
The climb also uncorked a much angrier soundtrack than we heard at its Le Mans debut. The engine note ramps up into a mechanical howl as the coupe rockets through the trees, easily stealing the title for most ferocious run of the day.
