We now know what chip will fuel the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8, the company’s upcoming wide foldable. Well, we know what chip will fuel it in at least one market. The information comes from Ishan Agarwal, a well-known tipster.
He went to X to confirm that the Galaxy Z Fold 8 will utilize the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor from Qualcomm… in India. There’s a good chance that chip will fuel the device on a global scale.
The tipster seems to be completely sure of this information, as he used the word “confirmed” in his post. The Galaxy Z Flip 8 could end up utilizing a dual-chip strategy, while it seems like the Galaxy Z Fold 8 series will stick with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 everywhere. That hasn’t been confirmed yet, though.
Samsung’s naming is a bit confusing this time around. The Galaxy Z Fold 7’s successor will be the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, based on what we’ve seen thus far. The Galaxy Z Fold 8 will be the company’s wide foldable.
If that ends up being the case, it will manage to confuse quite a few people. The names have been confirmed from various sources at this point, so that seems to be the case.
The Android Headlines Take
It’s not exactly surprising that the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 will fuel the Galaxy Z Fold 8. In fact, it could be the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy, a slightly overclocked variant of that processor.
Samsung used Qualcomm’s chip exclusively in last year’s model as well: the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy inside the Galaxy Z Fold 7. Considering that Samsung plans to use Qualcomm’s chip in the Galaxy Z Fold 8 in India, there’s a good chance the same will happen everywhere as well. India and Europe are usually the regions that get the Exynos chip if there’s an Exynos version of a device.
