It seems like the Samsung DeX feature on the Galaxy Z Fold 8 has been upgraded. According to info provided by Tom’s Guide, Samsung added one very useful feature for multitasking.
Before we get to it, do note that all three new foldables include this new version of Samsung DeX. That includes the Galaxy Z Fold 8, Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, and the Galaxy Z Flip 8.
Samsung DeX has a new feature for power users on the Galaxy Z Fold 8 series & Flip 8
The only new addition that has been identified, compared to the previous version, is the ability to create up to four workspaces. Each workspace you create can support up to five apps. In other words, you can now run 20 different apps at the same time.
Once you set all that up, you can click the icon with the three vertical lines in the lower-left corner of the Samsung DeX interface and thus jump between workspaces with ease. If you’ve used Windows 11’s workspaces, you’ll be right at home here.
Other than that change, Samsung DeX seems to be unchanged. You can still access it with ease by plugging your phone directly into a monitor. You can do it via USB-C, an HDMI port using a USB hub, or even wirelessly on a supported TV/display.

As a reminder, all three of the foldables that we’ve mentioned here are now available to purchase. Starting today, the pre-order period has ended, and the devices are readily available for you to get them.
Samsung confirmed that you can grab these new foldables in 106 markets across the globe as we speak. The same goes for the company’s new smartwatches, the Galaxy Watch 9 and Galaxy Watch Ultra 2.
Needless to say, you’ll be able to take advantage of Samsung DeX only if you get one of the three foldables. Watches are an entirely different story.
