The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 has a very useful feature, a feature that is quite handy to have when it comes to foldables. The phone can automatically lock screen rotation when you open it up.
The Galaxy Z Fold 8’s smart screen rotation feature is quite handy
From what we’ve seen, many people lock their screen rotation; that includes both my colleagues and me. Unwanted screen rotations are quite annoying, so that’s not exactly surprising. The Galaxy Z Fold 8 does allow you to automate things a bit more than you may think.
There’s a very good chance you’ll want to rotate the inner display of the Galaxy Z Fold 8 more often than the outer one. Why? Well, thanks to its 4:3 aspect ratio, it’s great in both horizontal and vertical orientations.
When it’s in horizontal mode, it’s ideal for watching YouTube, movies, and TV shows- basically any horizontal content. When in vertical mode, you can use that display to scroll through TikTok, Instagram, and consume vertical content. It’s equally good for all that.
A user on Reddit spotted this feature, which allows you to lock the rotation setting on each display. You can set it to be locked on the outer display, but unlocked on the inner display, so that you don’t have to manually unlock it every time.
Your phone will remember this setting and keep it active
Your phone will remember this setting and make things a bit easier for you. We confirmed that the feature is there on our Galaxy Z Fold 8, and the same goes for the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, actually.
As a reminder, both of these phones launched last week, alongside the Galaxy Z Flip 8 and the company’s new watches. The devices are now available to pre-order, and will go on sale on August 12.
