Two of Samsung’s upcoming foldables have just been shown once again by dummy units. These are probably the best dummy units that we’ve seen thus far, and they give us a great look at the two phones.
The Galaxy Z Fold 8 series phones are quite different, and these dummy units show it
You can see the image that surfaced below this paragraph. Even though these two phones are both book-style foldables, they’re very different. The square foldable, aka the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, is a well-known form factor. The wide foldable, aka the Galaxy Z Fold 8, is the new form factor that is coming.

The wide foldable is much shorter in comparison, but it’s also notably wider in both folded and unfolded forms. It should be easier to use with one hand when folded, and it will be great for horizontal video consumption when unfolded, as well as productivity, and so on.
A recent rumor from the same source that shared these dummy images, Ice Universe, confirmed the names for the two devices. The Galaxy Z Fold 7’s successor will be the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, it seems. That will be the square foldable. The wide foldable will be named the Galaxy Z Fold 8. It’s an odd choice by Samsung, but there you go.
The wide foldable will have one less camera on the back
You’ll also notice that the wide foldable has one fewer camera on the back in comparison. It will allegedly use two 50-megapixel cameras, wide and ultrawide units. It will not get a 200MP camera from the square foldable.
Other than that, the wide foldable is expected to be a flagship-grade phone, just like the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra. We don’t have much detail on the specs, but it’s expected to have a similar spec sheet to its sibling.
Both of these phones are expected to arrive in July. Samsung did not confirm anything thus far, but July 22 is rumored. The launch event will allegedly take place in London.
