Samsung is rolling out the April 2026 security update to its budget tablet, the Galaxy Tab A9 Plus. It’s good that Samsung is supporting its low-cost model that isn’t even new. While this may not bring any exciting new features to the table, it makes the tablet secure, which is equally important these days.
Samsung Galaxy Tab A9 Plus is receiving April 2026 security update
The April 2026 security update to the Galaxy Tab A9 Plus is currently rolling out to the international 5G variant with the model number SM-X216B. It’s available in a few regions, including Brazil, and carries the firmware version X216BXXSCEZD5. As with any updates, the rollout will happen at a gradual pace. It may vary depending on the region and variant.
If you don’t see an update hit your device, check for it manually by heading to Settings > Software update > Download and install. But then again, checking manually won’t speed up the process of receiving the update.
Rolling out to the international 5G variant
Samsung’s April 2026 security update brings fixes to 47 vulnerabilities found in the previous version of the OS. Of the 47 fixes, 33 are from Google as part of Android’s Security Bulletin for April 2026, 10 fixes are coming from Samsung Mobile, and 4 are coming from Samsung Semiconductor. As said, it is an important update for a tablet that’s over two years old. This makes it more secure than before.
The Galaxy Tab A9 Plus will receive the next major UI update, One UI 8.5, based on Android 16 QPR2. This will bring a refreshed UI, new customization options, and much more. While the update is confirmed to arrive, the exact timeline of the rollout is not clear at the moment. It should arrive shortly after the flagship models get it. We’ll be sure to report when that happens.
