The Samsung Galaxy S26 series users in the US and Canada are now getting the October 2026 Android security patch. This update started rolling out right after One UI 9 last month, but it took time to spread to other markets.

Back then, we also didn’t know what the update brought, but now we do. This update patches 62 security issues overall. 45 of those security fixes come from Google, and the remaining 17 are provided by Samsung.
Google’s patches include 9 ‘critical’ fixes, along with 33 high-risk fixes and 3 moderate-risk fixes. Samsung’s patches include 10 high-risk fixes and 7 moderate-risk fixes. There are no critical ones here.
The update is now reaching the Galaxy S26, Galaxy S26+, and Galaxy S26 Ultra devices in the US and Canada. The rollout is staged, though; you may have to wait a bit before it comes to your device.
The update is rolling out in stages and weighs around 530MB
The update weighs around 530MB, though it could differ a bit from one device to the other. You can always manually check whether the update is available for your phone by going to Settings -> Software update -> Check for updates.
Other than security patches, this update likely doesn’t include anything else. Well, at least something didn’t mention anything. So don’t expect any new features here.
New features are coming with One UI 9.5, and that build is expected to land in January or February. It will arrive pre-installed on Samsung’s upcoming flagship smartphones, the Galaxy S27 series.
Four phones are coming as part of that series, in case you’re unaware, compared to three this year. The Galaxy S27, Galaxy S27+, Galaxy S27 Pro, and Galaxy S27 Ultra will land in the first quarter of next year.
