The Galaxy S25 series is now getting the October 2026 Android security patch
This update is rolling out to the Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25+, and Galaxy S25 Ultra as we speak. It brings fixes for 62 security vulnerabilities in total, which include fixes from both Google and Samsung.
Google has provided 45 security fixes, 9 of which are marked as ‘critical’. Samsung added 17 security patches, none of which are marked as ‘critical’. That includes 4 patches from Samsung Semiconductor, by the way.
These are all security patches that you won’t see in your usage of the devices, but they sure are important in the general scheme of things. Improved security is always a good thing.
This update is all about security
This update, to our knowledge, does not include new features or anything like that. Samsung possibly squashed some bugs, but if that happened, we don’t know about it, as nothing of the sort has been named by the company.
One UI 9.0, which arrived recently, did bring some new functionality to the phones. That update enabled a more customizable Quick Panel, which I personally have been enjoying. It also brought improvements for Samsung DeX and Samsung Notes.
On top of that, some new AI features have been added to the phones, not to mention deeper Gemini integration. One UI 10 could actually be a huge update, based on a recent rumor. Samsung could be making a massive revamp of its UI.
