The Samsung Galaxy S24 series is now getting the Android 17-based One UI 9.0 update in the US. This update originally started rolling out about a week ago, but in Korea, Samsung’s homeland.
The Galaxy S24 series is getting One UI 9.0 in the US
Now, the update is reaching factory-unlocked units in the US. That goes for the Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24+, and Galaxy S24 Ultra, all the main members of the Galaxy S24 series.
Having said that, the Ultra model’s update weighs around 3.9GB, so it’s quite a hefty update. The updates for the Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24+ should not be far from that, though probably a bit under that level.
The update is rolling out in stages, so you’ll need to be patient. It may arrive to your phone today, or in a week, who knows. You can always manually check, though. You can do that via Settings -> Software update -> Check for updates.
Quick Panel is now more customizable, new AI features are here & more
This update does bring some new features to the table, along with some improvements and bug fixes. It makes the Quick Panel more customizable than ever before. You can resize everything now and make it look the way you want.
Deeper Gemini integration is also included in the update, while Samsung has enhanced Samsung DeX and Samsung Notes, and improved accessibility features. Some new AI features have been added as well, and more.
This is a nice update, and a useful one, but it’s not groundbreaking or anything like that. One UI 9.0 does not reinvent the UI, nor is it supposed to. It does bring some notable improvements: underlying Android 17 ones, plus the ones Samsung added, the ones we’ve mentioned. There’s plenty to like here, in all honesty.
