Samsung isn’t keeping its newest software limited to expensive flagships anymore. The company just kicked off the stable One UI 9 rollout for the Galaxy A57 5G (review), making it the very first mid-range device to get the Android 17 update alongside heavy hitters like the Galaxy S24 series and 2024 foldables.
The update is currently live in South Korea on the Galaxy Quantum 7, which is the local variant of the A57. Both phones share the same Exynos 1680 chip under the hood. This means the software build (A576SKSU2BZIE) is practically identical to what unlocked and carrier models in other regions will receive soon.
What new features are actually included on the Galaxy A57 Android 17 update
This release wraps up a month-long beta program that let A-series users test early builds alongside flagship owners. The final update packs a refreshed Quick Panel with deeper layout customization, an overhauled lock-screen clock, new Samsung Notes tools, and an improved Samsung Health design.
On the security side, Samsung added a quick security-lock toggle, a clear status bar indicator whenever apps access your location, and updated Bixby controls. That said, mid-range buyers should keep expectations in check regarding software parity: Galaxy AI capabilities are staying exclusive to higher-tier hardware, so the A57 skips those tools entirely.
Global rollout timeline and pricing perks
Korean users can already jump into Settings to download the update. That said, owners in the US and other global markets shouldn’t have to wait long. Samsung typically expands stable builds to additional regions within a week or two after initial domestic launches.
The timing works out especially well for budget shoppers in the US. Unlocked Galaxy A57 5G units recently dropped to a record $399.99 on Amazon for Prime Day, taking $200 off its normal $599.99 price. Anyone grabbing the phone on sale will likely have Android 17 waiting for them right out of the box or shortly after setup.
