$28.8 million has been raised from various entities to build out The Sasha, a 60-unit supportive housing development underway at 1325 Grove Blvd. in Austin. The goal of the project is to address housing instability and homelessness.
VirtualBX reports the project is being developed by DMA Development Company, with The SAFE Alliance serving as owner and operator. The capital stack includes Low-Income Housing Tax Credit equity, local housing bond funding, Project Connect funds, and a Federal Home Loan Bank grant, totaling approximately $28.8 million in development costs.
This five-story, 60-unit community will house up to 240 people, including families, in one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments that will also include:Â
- Resident lounge and community meeting roomsÂ
- On-site laundry facilitiesÂ
- Secure reception and safety featuresÂ
- Access to high-frequency transitÂ
- Proximity to grocery stores, healthcare, and employment centersÂ
The Sasha will provide voluntary support services including counseling, case management, parenting support, and life skills training—creating a supportive environment where survivors can heal and thrive.Â
