The Ford Bronco and Jeep Wrangler keep trading the lead, and right now the Wrangler has it. Stellantis’ third-quarter sales report puts the Wrangler at 44,757 sales, 6,737 more than the 38,020 Broncos in Ford’s own report.
That reverses the Bronco’s spring win. Through September, the Wrangler leads by 16,055, and Ford has one quarter left to close the gap.

The lead has changed hands twice this year. The Bronco’s second quarter was its strongest of 2026 and the only one in which it beat the Wrangler. Ford calls the 38,020 Broncos it sold between July and September a third-quarter record, and its 114,956 sales through September a year-to-date record.

The Wrangler’s third quarter is up 5% from 42,450 a year ago. Through September, it’s up 2% to 131,011.

What A Full-Year Win Would Take
To finish 2026 ahead, the Bronco has to outsell the Wrangler by at least 16,056 vehicles in the fourth quarter. Its biggest quarterly margin this year is 3,946.

Ford
The Wrangler also won the full year in 2025, with 167,322 sales to the Bronco’s 146,007. Ford starts taking orders for the Bronco Filson and Bronco RTR editions later in October.
The Wrangler Got Cheaper This Year
Jeep cut Wrangler prices for the 2026 model year, including $1,350 off the four-door Sport S, along with lower prices on a popular option bundle and the Sky Slider roof. Stellantis doesn’t connect those cuts to sales in its report, and Ford doesn’t break out Bronco pricing or incentives in its own.

Verdict: The Wrangler Has The Edge For 2026
With a 16,055-vehicle lead and one quarter left, the Wrangler is in a strong position to finish 2026 ahead. The final sales reports are due in January.
Wrangler sales fell 12% year over year in the second quarter, to 41,793 from 47,660, and Stellantis’ midyear report doesn’t explain why. Neither company breaks out fleet and retail sales for these two models, so it’s unclear how much of either total comes from fleet buyers. Fleet mix, incentives and inventory could all play a part in the fourth quarter.
If you’re shopping:
- Cheapest way in: The 2026 Wrangler Sport two-door starts at $36,035. Ford lists its cheapest 2026 Bronco, the Base, from $41,295, so the Wrangler costs $5,260 less to get into.
- Four doors for less: The Wrangler Sport four-door starts at $39,040, $2,255 less than the Bronco Base four-door at $41,295.
- Destination: Both add a $1,995 destination charge, so the gaps hold after delivery.
- Stock: Ford reports about 36,200 Broncos in dealer inventory at the end of September, roughly three months of supply at the third quarter’s pace. Stellantis doesn’t publish a comparable figure for the Wrangler.
