Google has pushed a new update to Fitbit for Android, which brings the app version to 4.69, alongside a redesign to the stats section and more. This should be the last update before it rebrands as Google Health. That said, the update is also introducing changes to logging widgets and shortcuts, as the transition begins.
Fitbit 4.69 update redesigns focus stats with new customization options
Once you’re done installing the update, there’s a new full-screen greeting message that reads, “The Fitbit app is becoming the Google Health app.” We even get a glimpse of the new app icon, with Google’s latest wearable, the much-hyped Fitbit Air, taking the center stage. At the bottom, the screen also adds, “Keep an eye out for the new app name and icon in the next few days. Your account and data will be waiting for you in the new app.”
Moving past that, the focus stats section gets a cleaner redesign with more selectable metrics with the update. There’s an option to remove large circular Steps or Cardio load for a denser 2×3 grid, and also the ability to have more than one page.
Last stop before the Google Health rebrand
The update allows you to customize “Key metrics” in the Health tab. This uses a two-column grid with large square cards. Instead of a floating action button, non-Premium users get a “Log” button below the focus stats. This opens a redesigned grid-style “Log manually” sheet. The Temperature logging is also back. Subscribers can log with the Health Coach by uploading an image.
Also, the only widget option now is the “Steps Widget.” Lastly, the update has also removed the long-press app shortcuts. Fitbit 4.69 update for Android is now widely rolling out. Head over to the Google Play Store to install it on your phone.
