The Huawei Pura X View managed to intrigue a lot of people and is selling really, really well for the company. That was the first non-folding wide phone in years (the first one with ultra-thin, uniform bezels), and more of them are coming. OPPO’s has been the most frequently mentioned one.
First super-affordable non-folding wide phone is not what we expected
Well, a surprise just landed, as Coolpad is not the company we expected to see release such a device at this point in time. The company did just that, and this handset is super-affordable.
The device in question is called the Coolpad Cool X Wide, and it’s available to pre-order in China via JD.com. The phone will begin shipping to consumers on November 8. It remains to be seen if Coolpad will make it available elsewhere.
This is also technically the first Android phone of this type. The Huawei Pura X View doesn’t run Android in China. It will if it gets a global launch, but that has not happened yet. It is running Android-free HarmonyOS NEXT in China.
Its pricing starts at an equivalent of $150
Coolpad’s affordable phone is priced at CNY999, which translates to $150. That model includes 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. The other options are 8GB RAM + 256GB of storage and 12GB RAM + 256GB of storage. Those two models are priced at CNY1,199 ($180) and CNY1,399 ($209), respectively.

The device has a 6.38-inch display with a 16:10 aspect ratio and a 90Hz refresh rate. The resolution is 1158 x 720 pixels, and the phone is powered by the MediaTek Helio G99 processor. LPDDR4X RAM is used, along with UFS 2.2 storage. It’s a very budget phone indeed.
A 4,600mAh battery sits on the inside, while a 50-megapixel main camera is included. What’s also worth noting is that this is a 4G-only phone; you don’t get 5G here, as the Helio G99 is a 4G chip.
The Coolpad Cool X Wide measures 150.3 x 94.5 x 8.95mm. It comes in Black, White, and Red color options, as you can see below.
