Samsung’s Exynos 2700 chip is right around the corner, and based on a new report, it could end up offering better performance than expected. In fact, it could beat the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 (powering the Xiaomi 18 Pro Max) in some aspects.
The Exynos 2700 managed to beat the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 in some tests
That chip could end up offering 20% higher multi-core performance in Geekbench 6.5, and 15% higher multi-core performance in Geekbench 7.0. On top of that, it ended up offering up to 20% higher GPU performance in certain advanced graphics tests.
This information comes from Ice Universe, which got the information from ChosunBiz, a Korean outlet. Compared to the standard Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 in the Xiaomi 18 Pro, its multi-core performance is reportedly 44% higher in Geekbench 6.5 and 36% higher in Geekbench 7.0.
The source did note that these figures are based on internal testing and need to be verified on retail devices. So take them with a grain of salt.
While recent Exynos chips were rather impressive, in the past that was not the case. Qualcomm’s Snapdragon rival chips were usually several steps ahead. The Exynos 2700 could truly close that gap, if this ends up being true.
The Exynos 2700 will fuel the Galaxy S27 series phones in some markets
As a reminder, the Exynos 2700 will fuel the Galaxy S27 series, at least in some markets. Samsung will once again use both Exynos and Snapdragon chips in its upcoming flagship smartphones.
The Galaxy S27, Galaxy S27+, and Galaxy S27 Pro will use both chips for sure, and the availability will depend on the region where you buy the phone. The Galaxy S27 Ultra was initially said to use the Snapdragon chip exclusively, but that may not happen. That phone could end up using both, too.
Even a report suggesting that the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 was getting too hot for Samsung surfaced. That report claimed that Samsung even considers switchingt ot he Exynos 2700 entirely if Qualcomm can’t fix the problem. Qualcomm denied the report, though.
