This is the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra.
Just yesterday, Samsung officially announced that Unpacked will be taking place on July 22 in London, and now we have a ton of renders of the new Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra.
In case you’ve been living under a rock, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra is the direct successor to the Galaxy Z Fold 7. But it is being given the ‘Ultra’ moniker to make room for the new wider Galaxy Z Fold, which will be the ‘base’ model.
What we have here are the three colors of the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra that will be sold everywhere. The green color that has been rumored recently is going to be exclusive to Samsung.com. Otherwise, we have white, black, and purple, though the purple looks to be darker than the black color, which seems to be more of a gray. That deep purple does look really nice, though, and is expected to be the hero color this year.
As we can see from looking at the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra here, it’s virtually the same design as last year. With the triple-camera setup running along the outside edge of the phone. This means that the wobble issue with the Galaxy Z Fold 7 will still be an issue here, and it also means that, like with the Galaxy S26 Ultra, MagSafe accessories won’t connect as securely.
Samsung is sticking with the squared-off look, which I do believe is the best design for a foldable, versus one side being rounded and the other not because the hinge is there.
Powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy
The Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra will also be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy, the same chip from the Galaxy S26 series earlier this year. Samsung and Qualcomm have basically confirmed this already, over on Weibo. It’s also expected to stick with 12GB of RAM on the base, with 256GB of storage.
The battery is also expected to finally get an upgrade to 5,000mAh, matching the Galaxy S26 Ultra but still far behind some of its Chinese rivals. It’s also finally getting upgraded to 45W charging.
On the camera front, the cameras are expected to remain mostly the same. With a 200MP primary camera, 10MP 3x telephoto, and a 50MP ultrawide. Though Samsung could make some adjustments to these cameras like they did with the Galaxy S26 Ultra, which increased the aperture to let in more light.
Finally, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra is going to be announced, alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 8, Galaxy Z Flip 8, Galaxy Watch 9, and Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 at Unpacked on July 22. Pre-orders are likely to open the same day, with them shipping within a week or two.
