This is Samsung’s brand-new Galaxy Z Fold 8, inspired by Apple. This is the new ‘wide’ Galaxy Z Fold 8, which is going to be much shorter and wider than the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra. Essentially, to compete with the upcoming iPhone Ultra that is expected to be released in September.
As we can see below, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 will be available in three colors outside of the Samsung.com exclusive color. We’re looking at Cream, Graphite, and Lavender, with the exclusive color being Pistachio.
The Galaxy Z Fold 8 is expected to have a 5.5-inch QHD+ display with a 16:10 aspect ratio. Kind of a throwback to almost a decade ago when most phones were 16:9. This is actually the same aspect ratio as Samsung’s tablets. The inner display will be a 7.6-inch QHD+ panel with a 4:3 aspect ratio.
The big advantage to having this wider aspect ratio is that, when you open the Galaxy Z Fold 8, you are already in landscape mode, instead of needing to rotate your phone, like you currently do with most foldables.
Galaxy Z Fold 8 is expected to be extremely light
The Galaxy Z Fold 8 is expected to be very thin and light. Weighing in around 200 or 201g, that makes it even lighter than the Galaxy Z Fold 7 was. It’s also expected to measure in at just 4.5mm thick when unfolded, or 9.7mm when folded.
Powering this one will be the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy, just like the Galaxy S26 Ultra had. It will be paired with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. With options for 512GB and 1TB.
And finally, we’re getting a larger battery this time around, looking at a 4,800mAh cell here, which should last all day. Though charging speeds are still going to be on the slower side, likely around 25W.
The Galaxy Z Fold 8 is expected to be announced on July 22 along with the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, Galaxy Z Flip 8, Galaxy Watch 9, and Galaxy Watch Ultra 2.
