Discord is expanding its list of perks and rewards for people that subscribe to Discord Nitro, and that now includes access to Xbox Game Pass. As far as perks go, that’s a pretty substantial offering for people that subscribe to Nitro. It also puts a nice spin on the Xbox Game Pass service, which hasn’t exactly had the best press these past few months, though thanks to Asha Sharma things seem to be turning around.
Game Pass has never really been entirely free as a perk of another subscription, but in the earlier days it was available for around $1 for the Ultimate tier for the first month. As the years went on, Microsoft continued to raise the price every so often, with the most recent having been a jump to $30 a month for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. Sharma recently decreased that down to $23. However, now Microsoft and Discord are giving gamers a way to get Xbox Game Pass for what is essentially free.
If you subscribe to Discord Nitro, Xbox Game Pass will be part of that subscription at no charge
You’re probably thinking that Discord adding Xbox Game Pass would change price of Nitro, but Discord has confirmed that it will remain at the $9.99 a month that it currently costs. So if you subscribe to Nitro, it’ll be available at no extra charge. The version of Xbox Game Pass that’s being added to the Nitro subscription is a starter edition of Game Pass, not Xbox Game Pass Ultimate or PC Game Pass.
That means you won’t have access to day-one games. What this version comes with, however, is 50+ titles including Star Dew Valley, Fallout 4, DayZ, Gears of War 5, and several other games. Discord also confirms that new games will be added periodically, expanding the list of playable titles. In addition, the reward is being added pretty soon. Discord says that this reward and others are being added over the next few weeks. So you’ll want to keep an eye out for it.
