Clicks Communicator, a unique phone with a physical keyboard, is seeing an increase in battery capacity. Additionally, we now know which software it will boot when it debuts. The company has shared these updates with the pre-order customers. As a refresher, the Clicks Communicator phone was shown off at CES earlier this year and is scheduled to ship to reservation holders in Q4 2026.
Clicks Communicator will run Android 17 OS out of the box
Folks at Droid-Life report receiving two major updates regarding the phone. Firstly, in terms of software, the Clicks team has reportedly confirmed that the Communicator will boot Android 17 OS out of the box. The next major Android OS will definitely be out in stable form by the time the phone launches in Q4 2026. So, customers don’t have to wait for the latest skin, as they will be getting the taste of the latest OS out of the box. To recall, the company previously promised to roll out major OS updates up to Android 20. So, Clicks certainly appears to be off to a good start.
Besides the software, the Clicks Communicator keyboard phone is reportedly seeing a jump in battery capacity. It will now have a 4,450mAh silicon-carbon battery, an increase from the 4,000mAh capacity the company initially announced. While it may seem modest by today’s standards, especially with 8,000mAh+ batteries becoming common, it should be sufficient for a device with such a unique form factor.

The company is apparently still aiming for working samples by next month, i.e., June. According to the timeline shared by the company previously, the testing and certification process for Clicks Communicator will take place in Q3. Users will also be invited to configure the phone with their preferred color and keyboard layout. Finally, in Q4, the company will begin production and shipping to reservation holders.

The phone will sport a 4.03-inch Full HD AMOLED display, with a physical keyboard below. There’s a 50MP main camera on the back and a 24MP front-facing camera for selfies. It’ll get up to 256GB native storage, with the option to expand it further via a microSD card.Â
Rest, it’ll feature a 3.5mm audio jack, 5G, Bluetooth, NFC, and Wi-Fi connectivity options. Interested users can still reserve the Clicks Communicator with a $199 deposit.
