By the early 2000s, supercars were becoming so fast that engineers were running into serious problems. Automakers had developed engines, transmissions, and suspension systems to the point where slowing down was now the bigger issue. Traditional steel and cast-iron braking systems were struggling to perform and were working harder than ever to control heat, especially during repeated high-speed deceleration attempts.
