It was BMW’s one and only crack at a true supercar — a mid-engine, wedge-shaped homologation special born from motorsport ambition and an unlikely partnership with Lamborghini. Long before the Acura NSX rewrote the rulebook on exotic usability, the M1 was already proving that a supercar could be engineered with German precision and Italian flair in equal measure. It remains, to this day, the only supercar BMW has ever put into production.
