The 1960s were a time when the European sports car reigned supreme. Virtually every higher-end automaker in the Old Continent was involved in building some sort of grand touring car. Each manufacturer involved, such as Jaguar and Lamborghini, were busy trying to inject their own flair into their sports cars, making them a sort of flagship symbol for their respective badges. Things were so competitive in the sports car market that it inspired other, lesser-known brands to compete, such as De Tomaso with their American V8-powered Pantera.
