German luxury automakers like BMW and Audi are known primarily for the premium quality of the cars they produce, as well as the advanced technology and performance which people pay handsome prices for year in and year out. But despite the strong badge appeal of these two brands, dependability and reliability are not things any of the premium European brands have a strong reputation for. More mainstream Japanese automakers like Toyota and Honda have usually taken that accolade. While the German luxury carmakers may be fighting for the top spot, an Audi vs BMW reliability shootout does not produce the result you might expect.
