Audi hasn’t turned its back completely on the R8 supercar, but the automaker won’t do a new one just for the fun of it. Speaking to Australian publication GoAuto, Audi Sport chief Rolf Michl said that a third-generation R8 is a possibility, but that there would need to be a legitimate business case, i.e. genuine consumer interest, for it to happen. Those holding out hope for the mid-engined sports car will be heartened to learn that nothing’s off the table, although anyone who wanted enthusiastic confirmation will surely be disappointed.
