Apple officially announced the Watch Ultra 4 on September 9 and it has confirmed the release date for the new watch, alongside the full specs list, the price, and several new features that will set it apart from the previous model.
Apple’s big focus on the new smartwatches this year is around additional functions for health tracking and new features powered by Apple Intelligence that will make the watch smarter than ever, so that users have even more convenient features at their finger tips. The Apple Watch Ultra 4 will be released on September 18, with pre-orders for the watch going live on September 9. The price of the watch will be $799, and there is only one size, which is 49mm, as well as no option for GPS/Bluetooth connectivity only, as the Apple Watch Ultra 4 only comes in a Cellular/GPS/Bluetooth model, so there is no cheaper option. The price can go up, though, if you select the Titanium Milanese loop instead of the Alpine Loop, Trail Loop, or Ocean Band.
When the Apple Watch Ultra 4 releases, it’ll be available directly from Apple, but you will also be able to pick it up through Amazon, which is one of Apple’s major retail partners. The carriers will be picking it up as well since this is a Cellular model. Pre-orders for the watch were not live on carrier websites on September 9.
For new features, Audio Intelligence powered by Apple Intelligence is a big focus, with features like auto song recognition from Shazam with alerts popping up in the Smart Stack, and a new Sound Recognition feature that is designed to alert deaf and hard of hearing users to sounds that the watch picks up but that they might miss. There’s also Live Rewind, which lets you capture the last 15 seconds of a conversation, and then have that presented in a text snippet on the watch display.
