It seems that Apple’s brand new iPhone 18 Pro series isn’t the only company’s latest product to run into issues. It turns out that the new Apple Watch Series 12 and Ultra 4 models have problems of their own. But the good news is that Apple has since pushed out an emergency update to its new Apple Watch models.
Apple Watch Series 12, Ultra 4 get emergency update
Apple has released watchOS 27.0.1. This is an emergency update for its new Apple Watch models. Basically, it should fix a problem with the new models that have been causing the wearables to repeatedly restart.
From what we can tell, it seems that this bug affects only the new Apple Watch Series 12 and Apple Watch Ultra 4 models. Older models, for some reason, have not been affected. So if you happen to own either device, you’ll want to update them ASAP; otherwise, you’ll be dealing with unexplained and unexpected restarts.
Not a good look for a device that’s not even a month old. But hey, at least Apple was quick about this particular fix. Unfortunately, iPhone 18 Pro owners will need to wait until next week for the Face ID bug fix.
What happened?
According to owners of either device, it seemed that their smartwatches suddenly began to unexpectedly restart themselves. It wasn’t just a one-off thing either. Some owners reported that within a span of a few days, their smartwatches would restart multiple times.
Apple has not explained what is the reason behind the crashes, but either way, the latest update should fix it. These types of bugs are more than just annoying. They are incredibly disruptive. Imagine buying the Apple Watch Series 12 or Ultra 4 for your workouts, then halfway through tracking, it crashes and all your progress is lost.
Also, some users might use their smartwatch for alarms or reminders. Like what time to wake up, time to take their medicine, appointments, and more. There could also be more dangerous implications, like if the watch restarts and fall detection doesn’t work.
To check and download the update, go to Settings, General, and then Software Update. Make sure your Apple Watch is on a charger and is charged to more than 50% to complete the update.
