It seems like Apple is putting a lot of focus on the display of its first foldable smartphone. According to a new report, the foldable display is the main reason why Apple waited so long to announce its own foldable.
Apple focused a lot on the display of its foldable and its crease
Why? Well, because of the crease. Apple wanted to make it as minimal as possible, and the company deemed this is the time to do it. According to a report from China, the display crease on the so-called iPhone Ultra will beat out most of the competition.
It is said that both the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Pixel 10 Pro Fold will be beaten, but what’s interesting the report says it’ll beat out most foldables, not all of them. The OPPO Find N6 could still have the upper edge in that regard, as OPPO did a fantastic job in the display crease department.
The question remains: What will the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and its wider sibling bring to the table? Will Samsung be able to minimize the crease further, and thus ruin Apple’s party? It remains to be seen.
In all honesty, display creases haven’t been a problem for years. Well, at least for Chinese smartphone manufacturers. OPPO, Vivo, and HONOR, just to name a few, have had control over that for years now.
Realistically, display creases have not been a problem for years
Yes, the creases were and are there, but you could barely feel them under your finger, and you literally stop noticing them after you start using the phone. You can’t see them when you’re looking at the phone straight up.
It seems like the people who complain about extra minimal creases the most are usually people who never actually use foldables. It’s one thing to see something in a picture/video, or even briefly in real life, and something completely different to actually use the product for a while.
As a reminder, Apple’s first foldable smartphone is expected to launch in September, alongside the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max.
