Apple recently unveiled its all-new smart home hub, called the HomeView. It comes in two different models: one with a speaker base and another with a wall-mountable design. While both models are priced similarly, the wall-mounted model requires additional purchases, pushing the price even higher.
Wall-Mounted HomeView isn’t exactly priced similarly to the base model
The standard HomeView model comes with a speaker base and is meant for desktop use. It comes with the base in the box and doesn’t require any additional purchase. However, that’s not the case with the wall-mounted version. The $299 price tag is only for the main machine. It requires a separate accessory to work.
The cheapest option is Schneider Home’s Power Mount USB-C Wall Connector, which is priced at $59.95 in the US. Users can choose different accessories as well, but they all cost more.
Customers can also choose the Power Mount AC Wired, which costs $79.95 and brings the total price to $378.95 before taxes. A third option, the Power Mount PoE Wired, is expected to arrive in early 2027 for $129.95, taking the combined cost to $428.95. Apple says the USB-C and AC wired mounts are available to order through its website and Apple Store app. The PoE model is not yet available.
Users looking to purchase the wall-mounted version should be aware of extra spendings
The extra cost is mentioned in the fine print on Apple’s product announcement page. Buyers can also see the mounting options when adding the device to their shopping basket. Yes, Apple does allow customers to select “No mount” without paying extra at checkout. However, the site warns that the wall-mounted HomeView needs a mount and power solution to operate. Just purchasing the main machine isn’t enough.
Moreover, do keep in mind that both models are sold as “separate.” That basically means the owners of the desktop edition cannot simply buy a mount and convert it into the wall-mounted version. There are other differences too. The wall-mounted version is sold in only two color variants, as against four options available for the standard variant.
For now, anyone choosing the wall-mounted version must account for the cost of the required accessories on top of the machine’s advertised price.
