If you’re thinking of getting yourself a new Apple product, but don’t want to pay full price for it, you’re in luck. It seems that Apple has raises the trade-in values for most of its products. This means that you can now get a bit more than what Apple had previously offered, although we’re not sure if that’s much comfort.
Apple raises trade-in values for most of its products
According to Apple’s trade-in page, the company has adjusted the value you get when you trade-in some of its products. The amount varies from product to product. For instance, the iPhone 16 Pro Max now has a trade-in value of $720, which is up from $695 from before. From what we can tell, $25 is probably the biggest increase. Older iPhones won’t fetch you much. For example, the iPhone 8 jumped from $35 to $40.
Other Apple products also saw a raises in trade-in value. This includes the Apple Watch, iPad, and Mac computers. However, the amount will also depend on your device and which generation it is.
But what if you don’t own an Apple product? Don’t worry, Apple is also accepting Android devices. However, from what we can see, we’re looking at a $5 increase at most. Or in some cases, the trade-in value actually dropped due to some of these devices being older. So if you have an older Android device, you might want to move fast or Apple might make more adjustments in the future.
Not a big deal, honestly
That being said, the increase in trade-in value isn’t really a huge deal. Yes, for some models you might get an extra $25, but that’s not the whole picture. For starters, these values are “up to,” meaning that the overall condition of your device matters. If you are trading in a beaten up iPhone 16 Pro Max with a cracked display, don’t expect to get the full $720.
Let’s not forget it was only recently that Apple raised the prices of a bunch of products. This means that these new values will, at the very most, offset the price hikes. Let’s not forget that the upcoming iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max are expected to see an increase in price as well.
It might also explain why Apple is exploring the idea of leasing hardware, making it easier for customers to upgrade their devices while ensuring they are locked into Apple’s ecosystem.
