Counterpoint Research has just shared the best-selling smartphones for Q2 2026. What’s interesting is that the top 10 smartphones from this list contributed to 26% of overall smartphone sales in Q2 2026.
The iPhone 17 is unsurprisingly the best-selling smartphone in Q2 2026
The company says that the iPhone 17 from Apple was the best-selling smartphone in the quarter. That’s not exactly surprising. It is said that the phone contributed to 6% of global smartphone sales.
Apple also claimed both second and third place on the list. The phones occupying those places are the iPhone 17 Pro Max and iPhone 17 Pro. So the iPhone 17 series claimed the top 3 spots.
Samsung managed to squeeze into fourth place with the Galaxy S26 Ultra, its flagship handset. Fifth and sixth places are also claimed by Samsung, but by the company’s budget devices, the Galaxy A07 4G and Galaxy A17 5G.
The iPhone 17e sits in seventh place, and it’s followed by the Galaxy A17 4G, Galaxy S26, and iPhone 16. This time around, Apple and Samsung claimed all 10 spots when it comes to best-selling smartphones.

A year ago, in Q2 2025, Xiaomi’s Redmi 14C managed to squeeze into eight spot, thus breaking Apple’s and Samsung’s monopoly of the top 10 spots. This time around, Xiaomi did not succeed in doing the same.
Counterpoint indicates that the contribution from the top 10 smartphones actually elevated YoY (Year-over-Year) by 2%, despite the fact that the overall market declined by 11%.
Senior Analyst, Karn Chauhan, said: “Apple’s unit sales grew 5% YoY despite a broader market decline. iPhone sales increased across India, Japan, and the MEA, and nearly doubled in South Korea in Q2 2026, driven by the iPhone 17 series. The base iPhone 17 model remained the best-selling smartphone during the quarter, supported by significant upgrades that narrowed the gap with the Pro models.”
