Austin’s downtown Hyatt Centric hotel at 721 Congress Ave. is scheduled to be sold at the Travis County Courthouse on June 2. Another downtown Austin hotel — The Line Austin— is also set to be sold at the auction.
The Austin Business Journal reports that the hotel is owned by Realberry, formerly known as McWhinney, which developed it. The owner defaulted on an $84.6 million loan issued in November 2024.
The Hyatt Centric is a 31-story, 246-room hotel that opened in 2022 at the intersection of Congress Avenue and 8th Street. The slender hotel sits on a small, 0.2-acre site. The hotel features an art gallery, full-service restaurant, terrace bar and lounge, several meeting spaces, 24/7 fitness center, 2,560 square-foot flexible event space and 1,400 square foot event space in the 31st floor penthouse.
