Android Auto is gearing up for a major redesign in the coming days. 3D elements and customizable widgets are the changes that Google previewed around I/O 2026. While we wait for those to arrive, it seems there are more changes coming our way. Those reportedly include a new logo, support for Android-like quick settings titles, dual SIM status, and more. Today, a fresh leak uncovered a new work profile coming to Android Auto.
Android Auto’s Work profile feature could bring work apps to your car screen
Folks over at Android Authority have found evidence indicating that Android Auto could soon gain Work profiles. This should allow drivers to access work-related apps and their notifications from the car’s screen. That could include Google Meet, which already lets you take audio calls in the car using a Work account. However, it currently doesn’t let you manage anything from the car’s screen.
The new feature was spotted through a Quick Settings tile for Work Mode. The report notes that they were able to activate it by modifying Android Auto app version 18.0.664204. However, the tile doesn’t seem to be functional yet, but it might work the same way it does on phones.
A floating icon
When the tile is enabled/toggled on, it reportedly allows separate instances of work-related apps that run independently of the apps on your personal account. When highlighted/enabled, a floating Work icon may also appear on the side of the screen. Since this feature is still behind the scenes, it’s not clear if and when it’ll roll out to users widely.
Lastly, the report says they have discovered new icons for DND, battery saver, light and dark modes, and settings. However, the screenshot shared suggests they’re specific to Samsung phones. But the report suspects they may also relate to the upcoming Quick Settings tiles. But we don’t know that for sure at this moment.
