Android 17 QPR2 Beta 4 is now rolling out, and it’s bringing quite a few bug fixes for Pixel phones. With Beta 4, Android 17 QPR2 has reached platform stability. Let’s see what issues have been fixed.
Android 17 QPR2 Beta 4 brings quite a few bug fixes
‘Render apps below the cutout area’ developer settings were causing a transparent status bar on the launcher after exiting fullscreen video playback. That has been fixed. Google also fixed a thermal management issue that caused devices to overheat and reboot during use.
A bug preventing screen mirroring to external USB-C XR glasses has been fixed as well. The same goes for a gesture navigation issue that rendered gestures unresponsive when rendering apps below the display cutout.
There was also a charging bug that was fixed
The 80% battery limit optimization caused excessive charge times during the final 2% threshold, which has been fixed. Another fix was released for a launcher UI issue where searching for apps in the app drawer failed to process text input.
There was also an issue while invoking a power menu via hardware buttons, which has been fixed, and an issue where the phone call audio defaulted to the phone’s speaker instead of to connected Bluetooth devices.
A Recents app switcher rendering bug has been fixed, and the same goes for an audio service rerouted lock that was triggered during screen recording. It prevented microphone usage across apps and input methods.
Some UI issues were also fixed
A System UI visual inconsistency where turning off the screen from the home screen triggered a plain code fade instead of the power button screen-off animation has also been fixed.
Google also patched a low-contrast rendering issue in dark mode and patched a bug related to enabling 3D mode on connected smart glasses. A UI issue that prevented the notification bar from being pulled all the way down is no longer present either.
Some WebGL applications were able to freeze or crash the browser process when combining shadow maps with vertex color attributes, but that won’t be a problem anymore either. The same goes for low-light Face Unlock failures that bypassed Fingerprint Unlock and forced PIN entry.
