Android 17 QPR1 Beta 1 build was pushed out last month, and the second iteration is already here. Android 17 QPR1 Beta 2 has just landed for Pixel devices, and it addresses quite a few bugs.
Do note that this update does include the April 2026 security patch, and do note that it’s a beta build and is not something you should run on your daily driver. Having said that, you can grab it via the Android Beta Program if you want.
Android 17 QPR1 Beta 2 has landed with 9 bug fixes
Google listed 9 fixes in the changelog for this update. Google resolved an issue where the Terminal app failed to launch, resulting in an unresolvable error pop-up and infinite loading.
The second fix takes care of a display issue where the date and weather information overlapped the fingerprint scanner area on the lock screen. Furthermore, terminating a third active call from the heat unit incorrectly disconnected an existing conference call participation… well, that should no longer happen following this update.
The company also fixed an issue where mobile signal bars incorrectly displayed as empty or greyed out, despite active connectivity. This prevented users from accurately gauging their network signal strength.
One of the fixes has to do with custom-themed app icons
Google also fixed custom-themed app icons, which incorrectly appeared enlarged on the home screen when returning from an application. A bug in the F2FS file system has also been resolved
A UI issue that caused visual instability or glitches when moving apps in the recent items screen has also been resolved. The same goes for an issue where navigating bar swipe gestures failed to switch between recent apps.
The last fix resolved an issue where the Bluetooth tethering toggle would reset to off after device restarts or Bluetooth cycles. That required users to manually re-enable internet sharing for connected devices.
A bunch of Pixel devices are compatible
These are the eligible Pixel devices for this update: Pixel 6, Pixel 6 Pro, Pixel 6a, Pixel 7, Pixel 7 Pro, Pixel 7a, Pixel Tablet, Pixel Fold, Pixel 8, Pixel 8 Pro, Pixel 8a, Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro XL, Pixel 9 Pro Fold, Pixel 9a, Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, Pixel 10 Pro XL, Pixel 10 Pro Fold, and the Android Emulator.
