Google pushed out the fourth and final Android 17 beta build yesterday. We’ve talked about the update already, but new information keeps on coming. It seems like a new easter egg is included in this beta build.
As a reminder, this is the first easter egg that Google included in an Android build across the last three generations. It’s not exactly groundbreaking news, but it’s something tech enthusiasts love to see.
The final Android 17 beta build brings forth a fun new easter egg
This easter egg is actually quite fun. It’s basically a connect-the-dots puzzle. The easter egg opens up to a blank page showing a ring of diamond-shaped dots. You need to string these together, which you can do pretty fast, at which point the Android logo will appear and move forward through space.
Following that, if you long-press the Android logo, the phone will start vibrating in order to mimic a rocket launch. After that, you’ll be thrown back into the space game.
The last easter egg Google offered was way back in Android 14. So, it’s nice to see a refresh, as we were unsure when will Google finally do it.
9to5Google notes that the game itself has been updated with new activities. There are additional codenames and planets, too.
This beta build brought some other changes, too
The Android 17 Beta 4 brings app memory limits based on total device RAM. This release also removes the capability for developers to opt out of “maintaining orientation, resizability, and aspect ratio constraints on large screens.”
This update comes only two weeks after Android 17 Beta 3. So, when will the stable build arrive? It will most likely drop in June or July; it remains to be seen. Google did not confirm the exact date or month, nor was the company expected to do so.
