Meta, just like Google, is eager to get its AI across its products and services. So, it’s not really surprising to learn that Threads has added private Meta AI chats to the platform. This will allow users to have private chats with the AI to ask it questions without cluttering your feed.
Meta AI comes to chats in Threads
With the latest update, Meta AI is coming to chats in Threads. This means that if you open up your DMs in Threads, you can find your conversation with the Meta AI in there. What can you do with this AI? Basically, you can ask it all kinds of questions. If there’s a post on Threads you want to know more about, you can link a post and ask questions about it. It also supports images, links, and videos.

Now, Meta AI has existed on Threads in the past. However, before this, it was similar to how Grok was integrated into X. Whenever a user made a public post, other users could ask the AI for more info within the post itself. This is useful for fact-checking and could be handy for other users as well.
However, the issue is that it was a bit too public. What if you wanted to know more details that you’d rather other people not know? That’s where this private chat feature comes in handy. Plus, it keeps your feed relatively clean and uncluttered. Replies to posts won’t look so spammy anymore either.
Meta’s ongoing integration
Like we said earlier, Meta has not been shy about introducing its AI across its products and services. The AI is available as a standalone app, but it has also been integrated into Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp. Meta is definitely hoping that its integration will let users turn to its AI model more than outside models like ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and so on.
In fact, earlier this month, Meta launched Muse Image. This is the company’s first native in-house AI model for image generation and editing. However, it’s less of a competitor to Google’s Nano Banana and more focused on social media. But we wouldn’t be surprised if Meta eventually expanded its capabilities to take on other AI image generation models and services in the future.
