Google Pixel owners have had various issues with warranty work over the years. And the latest comes from a Pixel 10 Pro XL owner, who claims that Google sent their device back damaged and stuck in a bootloader loop. This is after Google was supposed to repair it for battery issues.
This Pixel 10 Pro XL is only 7 months old, so it is not a launch-day Pixel 10 Pro XL. The user said that Google conducted an inspection once they received the device for warranty repairs. Which is quite normal for warranty work. Google said the back cover was damaged and would not be repaired until the user repaired it. We can see from the photos that there was no damage to the back.
So, Google then sent the phone back to the user, without any warranty work being completed. And that’s where the situation got worse. The user does show that there is still no damage to the back cover, even after receiving the phone back. But the phone now boots directly into a bootloader loop. Making it so the phone is essentially a paperweight.
The user now says that Google’s warranty process was “a scam”. And honestly, we can’t blame him. Here at Android Headlines, we’ve also had our fair share of issues with Google, not just with warranty repairs, but even just trying to order a phone from the Google Store.
Customers expect more for a $1,200 phone
This experience is inexcusable for any company selling a $1,200 phone, let alone one the size of Google. Unfortunately, it’s something we’ve seen quite a bit with Google and the Pixel, and it’s unlikely to change in the future.
Right now, it’s unclear what’s going to happen next. But it’s definitely a story we’ll want to keep our eyes on.
