If you’re looking for a new smartphone that won’t break the bank, you won’t have to wait much longer. According to the rumors, Redmi is expected to debut its Note 17 series in July. Now, thanks to a recent post on Weibo by tipster Smart Pikachu, the specs of the Redmi Note 17 have been revealed.
Redmi Note 17 specs revealed in latest leak
According to the leak, it seems that the specs of the upcoming Redmi Note 17 include the use of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 chipset. It is also rumored to pack a 9,000mAh battery, waterproofing, a 1.5K OLED display, and a 50MP main camera. This is presumably for the base model.
However, the post also claims there’s another variant. This variant will feature a different chipset, the MediaTek Dimensity 7500 to be specific. It is also rumored to pack a larger 10,000mAh battery, the same 1.5K OLED display, but a larger 200MP main camera. The post doesn’t mention which model this could be, but if we had to guess, it could be the Redmi Note 17 Pro (or the Pro Max).
This is because last year’s Redmi Note 15 Pro series came with the Dimensity 7400-Ultra for the Pro model, and the Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 for the Pro+ model. This would suggest the Dimensity 7500 variant could be the Note 17 Pro. However, that’s just our speculation for now.
When can we expect it?
As we mentioned earlier, there are rumors that claim the Redmi Note 17 series could launch this July. It’s interesting timing. This is because on June 30, the company is expected to launch the Redmi K90 Ultra, a new “ultra” gaming phone. However, the Note 17 series presumably caters to non-gamers.
We also don’t know whether Redmi will launch the phone globally. However, there is a good chance they will. Last year, Redmi took the Note 15 series global. So, it stands to believe they could do the same for the Note 17 series. But we’ll have to wait and see. Until then, take this with a grain of salt.
