It turns out that when it comes to improving power and lowering emissions, automakers have done a pretty good job of taking care of and finding all the easy ways to do it. To move to the next level, some automakers are adding all the electric motors they can find. Others, especially those like Porsche who have models like the 911, where much of the appeal hinges on burning dead dinosaurs, are forced to find some incredible new ways to get that little bit more out of every drop of gasoline.
