If you’ve ever had to fill out a form on the web before, you know that sometimes it’s a bit tedious and annoying. Sure, you can enable autofill, but is it smart enough to know what you need to fill out apart from the standard name, address, and phone number? That’s where Chrome enhanced autofill comes in.
Chrome enhanced autofill feature rolls out
We should point out that this isn’t exactly a new feature per se. Back in July, it appeared that Google was already testing the feature. However, according to Google’s latest announcement, the Chrome enhanced autofill feature is rolling out as we speak.
Just in case you missed our earlier coverage, basically what the feature does is it uses AI, which in this case is Gemini, to pull personal information from services like Gmail. Google says, “Starting today, Chrome’s enhanced autofill feature can automatically suggest information pulled directly from Gmail as you fill out online forms. Using Gemini with Personal Intelligence, it can surface details like order numbers, tracking information, and flight bookings, right when you need them.”

For example, you’re filling out the digital arrival card for the country you’re visiting. It needs the flight number and address of the hotel you’re staying at. And that’s something enhanced autofill can do for you.
This will save you the time of having to go into your emails and look for the flights. Then you have to copy the flight numbers, go back to the page, paste it. After that repeat the process again for the hotel. If you’re concerned about privacy, Google says sensitive data is encrypted. Users can also choose and manage whether the feature is enabled. So you can turn it off if you don’t want to use it.
What about availability?
We previously said that the feature is rolling out as we speak, and it is. However, Google says that it is currently limited to users in the US. It will be available on the desktop of Chrome, Android, and iOS, and users will need to have Personal Intelligence enabled to take advantage of it.
The company doesn’t mention other countries or regions yet. However, we imagine that assuming the launch goes well, Google should eventually bring it to more users around the world.
