Google could soon allow multiple users to access Health Connect on Android. A string code discovered in Android 17 QPR3 suggests Google is working on multiple user profile support. The feature could be particularly useful for households and friends as they will be able to manage their multiple separate profiles from a shared phone or tablet.
Google is reportedly working on multiple user profile support for its Health Connect
Health Connect is an Android service application that allows supported health and fitness apps to share information securely on a device. Users can manage and control how apps access their data through the platform. However, as of right now, the app only supports a single user profile. That also means other users on the same device cannot access its features through their own profiles.
Thankfully, the following limitation might soon be removed in the coming days. As discovered by Android Authority, a code found in the Android 17 QPR3 update suggests that Google is working to bring multiple user profile support to Health Connect. There are no visual details or screenshots to show the feature. However, the code is a good indication that the tech giant is working on it.
Privacy options and release date remain unclear
For reference, Android already allows multiple users to share a device while keeping their data separate. Adding Health Connect support would extend that system to health information as well. It’s a step in the right direction. The feature could be particularly useful for friends and families sharing a single device. It would make it easier for several people to use Health Connect on one device without having to share a single profile.
Last but not least, do keep in mind that a string code alone cannot guarantee the stable release of the feature. There is no confirmed release date, and it remains unclear whether the feature will make it into the future Android update.
