If there’s one thing you might have noticed about Apple’s marketing materials is that they never quite get into the full specifics of their devices. You might see numbers thrown around, like 50% faster, 30 hours of video playback, and so on. But if you’re curious about the iPhone Duo battery capacity, we finally have some official numbers.
iPhone Duo battery capacity revealed
According to the EU energy label Apple published last Friday, the iPhone Duo battery capacity is 4,883mAh. This seems to confirm an earlier leak that revealed that the iPhone Duo has two separate batteries. One of them has a 2,962mAh capacity, and the other is a smaller 1,921mAh cell.
As MacRumors points out, the iPhone Duo is eSIM only worldwide, which means everyone around the world will have the same experience. This is versus Apple’s other iPhones, in which the eSIM and regular SIM versions have different battery capacities. That said, now that we know how big its battery is, how does it compare?
Is this revelation good or bad news?
For those who have been following the leaks, this isn’t really new information. But how does the battery compare against Apple’s other iPhones? Well, the iPhone 18 Pro Max has a 5,567mAh battery, so it clearly outclasses the iPhone Duo. iFixit did a teardown of the eSIM-only iPhone 18 Pro and found it had a 4,288mAh battery. In that instance, the iPhone Duo is ahead.
That being said, it’s worth noting that even last year’s iPhone 17 Pro Max has a larger battery for the eSIM model at 5,088mAh. But we should also point out that the iPhone Duo runs on the 2nm A20 Pro chipset. In theory, this should make it more energy efficient.
Apple currently advertises the iPhone Duo as allowing up to 31 hours of video playback using the inner display and up to 44 hours when using the outer display. The iPhone 18 Pro, on the other hand, is advertised to have up to 36 hours of video playback.
We’ll definitely have to wait for tests and reviews to see how well the battery holds up. But in the meantime, hopefully these official numbers will help you make a more informed decision.
