WhatsApp adds a new Guest option for joining calls even without an account. To simplify, users can invite anyone to join a call even if they don’t have a WhatsApp account. However, there are certain restrictions. With this, the company is making calling more open than ever. If this sounds familiar, the feature is similar to FaceTime, which lets people join calls without an Apple account or device.
WhatsApp makes joining calls without an account easy with its guest option
WhatsApp clarifies that Guests cannot start a call. They can only receive and accept invitations. Anyone joining the call as a guest needs the call host’s approval. Guests will enter a waiting room until the host lets them in. The host can remove them from the call at any time.
WhatsApp says that Guests can’t see other participants’ phone numbers, send messages, or add anyone else to the call. To get started, navigate to the Calls tab in the app, select the ‘+’ icon, create a call link, and share it with those who you want to talk to, even if they don’t have an account. They can join one-on-one or group calls through a browser.

Calendar integration
Once approved, they can use tools like screen sharing, raising their hands, and reacting with thumbs-up and heart emojis. WhatsApp also won’t limit how long guests can stay on a call. That’s not all; there’s more coming. Later this year, the company plans to roll out new calendar integration. This will allow users to create a WhatsApp call right from Google or Outlook calendar.Â
They’ll just need to install the WhatsApp plugin, connect their account, and add a call link to the invite. Anyone invited can join the call, even without a WhatsApp account. Guest calling and calendar integration are the latest set of features that are coming to WhatsApp calls.
