Samsung still has a major launch left this year: the Intelligent Eyewear they’ve been developing with Qualcomm, Google, Warby Parker, and Gentle Monster. We’ve seen these teased all year long, at Google I/O, at the Snapdragon Summit, and even at Unpacked in London. So we already know a good bit about them, but some mysteries remained, like the weight.
From handling them at Unpacked, I knew these were light. They were lighter than the Meta Ray-Ban glasses, too, but Samsung wouldn’t tell us a number. Now, thanks to SammyGuru, we know these will weigh 41g with standard lenses. They’ll also run on the Snapdragon AR Gen 1 with 2GB of RAM and 64GB of storage.
Battery life on the Intelligent Eyewear is quite impressive too, with Samsung quoting up to 9 hours and up to 72 hours with the charging case. That puts it ahead of Meta’s glasses, which offer around 8 hours of continuous use. Of course, it all depends on how you use them.
There are 9 frames from Gentle Monster and Warby Parker
We’re also starting to see some other styles from Samsung and Google, alongside Gentle Monster and Warby Parker. For Gentle Monster, there will be six frames, for a total of 16 versions, due to different lens color options.
There’s a squared black frame that comes with clear, light blue, or gray lenses. A rounder frame with clear, brown or gray lenses. A bolder square with gray or brown lenses. A cat-eye wth gray or brown lenses. A slim oval in black, light gray or pale lilac, and an oval in black, burgundy or cream.
Warby Parker offers three frame options: Alden, Reid, and Wren. The Alden and Wren come in Pine and Saddle colors. Reid comes in Jet Black only. This shows that Warby Parker is going a bit more conservative with its frame options, at least at launch.
