The iPhone Duo will finally be available for pre-order later this week and hit store shelves on October 23. It’s Apple’s first foldable, and that seems like enough to drive high demand. A new report by Securities Times in China notes that Apple is expecting much higher demand for iPhone Duo than initially thought, and it has apparently increased the orders by 30%.
Apple has reportedly increased the iPhone Duo orders by 30%
Despite the pre-orders not being live yet, the Cupertino giant seems to be anticipating much higher demand for its first foldable than the initial estimates. The report indicates that Apple has increased its orders for iPhone Duo in the supply chain by 30%. That’s a pretty big number, and it goes on to show the anticipation surrounding the foldable iPhone.
The report says Apple’s total iPhone Duo supply for the rest of 2026 will remain below 10 million units. Since earlier estimates suggested production of 6-7 million units, the new target is likely close to 10 million.
Anticipating better-than-expected response for its first foldable
Well, Apple appears to be seeing a better-than-expected response to the iPhone Duo since its unveiling last month alongside the iPhone 18 Pro. The company’s planned in-store demo experiences further support this. As a refresher, the iPhone Duo’s price starts at $1,999 for the base model. It’ll be available in Star White and Night Sky shades.
Circling back to the report, the supply chain sources also told Securities Times that Apple has increased iPhone 18 Pro Max orders by 10–15%. However, it reduced the iPhone 18 Pro orders by the same amount. The overall supply target for the iPhone 18 Pro lineup will remain unchanged. That said, this new report contradicts a recent Nikkei Asia report. It claimed Apple was cutting production due to weak demand.Â
